How to choose
Two soft tape measures, both with inches on one side and centimetres on the other, 20 mm wide and 40 g:
- 150 cm / 60 in — compact, wraps around pipes, welds and small members.
- 300 cm / 120 in — bright yellow with bold black marks for reading in low visibility; for larger members, hull sections and longer runs.
A soft tape follows curved and irregular steel where a rigid tape cannot, which is why divers use it for measuring around pipes and members during inspections.
